The meaning that adults have in biology is a term used to describe an animal that is that is capable of reproduction. Adults are social concepts as well as a legal concept within the world of humans. In contrast to a non-adult or "minor", a legal adult has attained the age of majority and is therefore considered autonomous, self-sufficient and responsible. You can refer to them as a "major". Age 18 is the legal adult age, but the definition of adulthood can vary depending on the country, rights of the law or the development of a person's psychological.

The stage of development for humans that is when physical and mental maturation has been achieved. Adulthood is typically believed to start around the age of 20 or 21. Mid-life, beginning approximately 40 years of age and is followed by the onset of old age at about 60 years old. The three phases of adulthood are the early years (from mid-30s through late-60s), middle adulthood from mid-30s to late-60s and later adulthood, (mid-60s until the time of death). When we reach the early stage of adulthood (between 20-40) then our bodies have reached full maturation even though our height and weight may rise slightly. As we grow older, we are at the highest level of physical capabilities.
