Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding an instrument hidden in the attic of her home, and being captivated by the sounds it produced. Her parents May-Britt and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to study music, not for an occupation or pastime but to grow. Thus, she began her own compositions. Her influences include renowned authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her love for Bjork's style. After her mom informed her that her music can not only aid in her efforts to achieve fame and also inspire others to see their value within the global community and see the possibilities for her songs, she decided to begin performing publicly. Her mother suggested that she sing her songs in public to help people realize their own importance and how they could impact the world. It wasn't until her 14th birthday when she shared her story with her parents. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. She claims that she enjoys writing music. Music is her preferred method of feeling anything.
